Summary
The climactic third novel in New York Times best-selling author Jeaniene Frost's Night Prince series finds Vlad and his newly turned bride, Leila, at odds with each other - and vulnerable to the one vampire powerful enough to end the Dark Prince's reign...
Play with fire, pay the price
Leila's years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn't learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin...
Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn't like Vlad to feel fear, but he does... for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad's greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him - and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away - Vlad's love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both...

One of her best books
The story was shocking at times and more intense, but it made the book more 'believable'

Amazing!
I'm a huge fan of Jeaniene Frost and have already read all her other books in the Night Huntress universe series. As with all the rest, it didn't fail to impress. This was an intense book full of perfectly placed action, shock and humour, in depth characters, and a gripping plot that lead to a perfect conclusion for the Night Prince series.
This was the first book of Jeaniene's that I've listened to as an audio book and so I'd already decided long ago how I thought the characters would sound, but Tavia Gilbert amazed me. She pulled off all the characters fantastically. She has a nice flow to her voice and I believed every word she spoke. It was expressive, yet natural and full of genuine feeling.
I highly recommend this book both for the incredible writing and the outstanding performance. Jeaniene Frost is a master in the supernatural fantasy genre.

Can't wait for the next one!
Absolutely love this author and can't wait for her next book. I've listened to all of them over the last few months and sad that I've now caught up! I love the narrator - the way she manages to do the voices so distinctly for each character is amazing and made it a pleasure to listen throughout the series.

Good listen
I enjoyed listening to this. Didn’t blow me away or anything but that’s probably because the characters are already together, and my favourite part of a story is often the getting together bit. Good load of action and plot though.

Nice surprise
Was extremely glad to be notified and subsequently read this book. This series of books by Jeaniene Frost has all the ingredients for success and Tavia Gilbert portrays all characters well and provides the correct atmosphere for the stoy.

Love it as all night hunter/ress books
I was worried that this next book would not be as good as the previous ones, but I shouldn't of. As usual the characters stick to their original personalities but grow through trouble and joy, I must say I loved the epilogue without giving it away it had me in stitches!!!
And of course adore Tavia Gilbert reading!!! What a voice!!!
Will be doing a re-listen of all the books again from start (night huntress series) to inbetween spin offs!!! Can't wait!!!

awesome
I was actually introduced to this author through this knight Prince series with Vlad and Leyla. I loved it so much I went off to find out what else she'd written, realised these books sit within the whole other story arc of the knight huntress world with cat and bones and promptly started working my way through that series.
firstly if you too didn't realise these books are stories within a larger story I highly recommend reading the whole series in order. I've seriously enjoyed it.
secondly this is my second read/listen to Vlad and layla's story, because I wanted to listen again knowing the fuller context of the wider story arc, along with all the other characters, and I'm really glad I did. you by no means have to, I loved these books the first time before I realised the bigger story existed, but I'm really glad I have read them again within the bigger story arc because there are little references to things that have happened previously that I now understand this time round, because ' I was there' in a previous book, which, for me, just makes the stories a little richer, but as I said by no means necessary.
the vlad and Leyla story arc is really great and there's a real wicked sense of humour that runs through the V & L storyline that I love, with one secret coming out in this book that literally had me laughing out loud...so funny...
but aside from that this story has yet another really intersting twist on what can happen within the supernatural world that Jeaniene Frost is so good at. never underestimate your enemies. loved it.

Good
I love the vlad series but this one did not feel like it matched up to the other two as it was quite gruesome in places but still wanting more from the vlad story line. Xxx
