About this listen
Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow all her life. She’s sweet, cute, and quiet.
Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is never going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.
Raiden Miller is the town’s local hero. A former marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home shrouded in mystery. It takes a while, but eventually Hanna catches his eye.
After all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is: Why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she’s sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?
©2013 Kristen Ashley (P)2015 Audible Inc.This book is not perfect, and it would have been nice to have a stronger plotline, explained in deeper detail. Several issues featured in this story (PTSD problems, the drug shipment storyline, the work of the H and its impact on the relationship) but it felt like they were only partly explored. I have to admit, however, that I was very happy the BDSM storyline faded into nothing! In fact the sex in this book was wonderfully hot, but after the first few encounters we thankfully did not get pages and pages of sex, as has become a trend in later books by this author. Because many plot issues were skimmed over, this book does focus more on the development of the relationship between a flawed H, who knows exactly what he wants in his future, and an amazingly adorable h who is a reflection of her happy and loving upbringing.
Well worth a mention were a couple of fabulous side characters, namely the grandmother and the cat. Both bring a fabulous humour to the story and illustrate why it is that so many of us readers stay devoted to KA’s books.
The only serious negative here is the narrator. She was perfect, apart from the voice for the H. The macho quality of the H is greatly diminished by the narration. I did listen to the whole book (I have deleted some other KA books from my audio due to poor narration) but I remain undecided as to whether, when I return to this book, it will be on kindle or audible.
Oldie but a goodie

He goes away as a marine and returns damaged mentally after loosing most of his platoon. Finally accepting that he will never see her as she sees him she takes the decision to make changes in her life i.e. haircut, holiday and new car. Following this, and unknown to her he finally sees her. He sees her as his reward for surviving.
Lots of tangled plots, drop ins from Creed, Sylvie and Knight as they try to unravel the activities that had taken place with Knights brother and his ex-partner in the previous book.
Unsuspecting Hanna is being used by a local team of drug shippers who have befriended her and she is totally unaware until having been invited out on a date by Raid she overhears him saying she is clueless and he is ending it tonight. She interprets this as he is not interested in her and the date ends with her phoning the police and totally screwing up the months of undercover work being done by Raid, Creed and their teams.
Lots of interaction with other characters in Willow, with a well deserved HEA (Yay) I am now stuck waiting for the next book linked into these series....sigh.

I always enjoy Kristen Ashley’s stories. Raid and Hannah are an interesting couple. Hannah could have been a little stronger in the face of Raids issues, but I suppose that would change the story.
Overall, a low score because of the narration but an emotional ride, none the less.
Good story, did not enjoy narration

The fmc is the most annoying character ever, and the voice that narrates her makes her annoying personality unbearable. The narrator's voice grated on my nerves.
But it has all the normal elements that KA has in all of her books.
utterly average
