يستمرّ في هذا المجلّد الثاني سردُ الشهادة الذي بدأ في المجلّد الأوّل . يصف هذا المجلّد جهود الأسر اللاجئة التي سَرّدتها النكبة وهبظت بأحوالها إلى ما دون الصفر ، في مسار سعيها لتأمين المأوى ، واللقمة ، والكسوة ، وتعليم الأطفال . ويسرد هذا المجلّد المحاولات الأولى التي بادر إليها فتيان فلسطينيون لم يبلغوا سنّ الشباب لتشكيل منظّماتٍ فلسطينيّة هدفها تحرير فلسطين ، ويروي هذا المجلّد العذابات التي تكبّدتها الأسر لتصل الى خانة الصفر، كما يروى الجهود الخارقة والتضحيات التي تكبّدها الكبار من أعضاء الأسر لتمكين الصغار من الدراسة في المدارس والجامعات. يُغطى المجلّد الثاني هذا الفترة الممتدّة من العام 1949 حتى العام 1958.
