About this listen

Dan Farnworth brings vividly to life his astonishing experiences as a medic working on the frontline of the UK Ambulance Service. When the 999 call goes out, he has little idea what he will find when he gets there.

Having worked in the emergency services for more than fifteen years, Dan has seen it all. In 999, he shares stories that are sometimes sad, occasionally hilarious, often moving, but always inspirational. However, the work also takes its emotional toll. Which was why he set up a mental health campaign that helps those in his profession suffering from PTSD – something that struck him after a truly shocking event. His story will make you see our ambulance service in a completely new way.

I thought it was very good that they highlighted the mental health issue dealing with the stresses and trauma of the job

The mental health issue

On all levels this audio book is fantastic in my opinion. Just the right amount of detail, amusing at times and so sad at times but so well written and narrated. I wish there was another volume. If ever I need an ambulance I would like them to be just like Dan.

Excellent listen

A necessary insight into the life of an ambulance worker. It gave me a better understanding of the things they come up against at work.

A good listen

Really enjoyed this book and the way Dan talks so openly about mental health issues. He has done so much about mental health which is still such a taboo, particularly in the work place. A very interesting and emotive read

Thought provoking

Having been a wearer of the blue uniform for many years and many interactions with our oppos wearing the green one, this book wasn't going to be a huge surprise to me....... or so I thought, it was.

You guys are AMAZING

Great Frontline story and mental health awareness of a service we all take for granted.
The Thin Blue Line and its effects on everyone.

Great Frontline story

As someone who doesn’t work on the frontline - this was a real eye opener and a book I 100% recommend you listening/reading. It may just change your view or stop you writing that idiotic note telling an ambulance to move from being parked outside your house!

Everyone should read or listen to this book. It should have been written many moons ago
