About this listen
SELECTED AS A YALSA 2022 AMAZING AUDIO FOR YOUNG ADULTS!
“A riveting ride through the stars.” —Kirkus Reviews
Black Mirror meets What If It’s Us in this gripping, romantic, and wildly surprising novel about two boys lost in space trying to find their way home—while falling in love—from the critically acclaimed author of We Are the Ants.
When Noa closes his eyes on Earth and wakes up on a spaceship called Qriosity just as it’s about to explode, he’s pretty sure things can’t get much weirder.
Boy, is he wrong.
Trapped aboard Qriosity are also DJ and Jenny, neither of whom remember how they got onboard the ship. Together, the three face all the dangers of space, along with murder, aliens, a school dance, and one really, really bad day. But none of this can prepare Noa for the biggest challenge—falling in love. And as Noa’s feelings for DJ deepen, he has to contend not just with the challenges of the present, but also with his memories of the past.
However, nothing is what it seems on Qriosity, and the truth will upend all of their lives forever.
Love is complicated enough without also trying to stay alive.
Critic reviews
"Kevin R. Free's exuberant narration sets the tone for this humorous, heartfelt story. When Noa wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of how he got there, he panics. Luckily, he's not alone, and the warm, soothing drawl of DJ (expertly voiced by Free) soon calms him down. But there are hurdles, and staying alive is only the first. Now Noa, DJ, and their shipmate, Jenny, have to figure out how to get home. As Noa falls in love amid these mysterious circumstances, Free's narration shifts between utter happiness, abject terror, and a nervousness so genuine you can hear him blush. Talented narrators Gibson Frazier and Candace Thaxton add to the quality of the production in two short sections told from DJ's and Jenny's perspectives." (AudioFile Magazine)

Fantastic sci fi
This book is on Senator Kruse's list of books to be banned in schools. It is a sweet and tpuching love story embedded in a brilliant and clever sci fi. The only reason for putting this on the list is pure homophobia - the story isn't sexually explicit in anyway and is completely suitable for the young audience it's aimed at. My only slight nitpick was I found the occasional introduction of other narrators a little distracting but each narrators overall performance was great.
