About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of A Good Heart Is Hard to Find by Trisha Ashley, read by Eva Haddon.

'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man of over 40 is in possession of a major defect....'

Cassandra Leigh has woken as if from a bad dream: 44, childless and 20-plus years into an affair with a married man. Max assures her they just need a little more patience and for his wife to die (!), but Cass is desperate for a baby and running out of time. Maybe Max is not the only man for her?

There's her friend Jason - though he's perhaps a little too rugged - and there's something strange about the way his wife disappeared.... Or there's Dante, the mysterious stranger she meets on a dark night in his haunted manor house....

Cass must throw caution to the wind and claim the life she's always wanted. Suddenly it's a choice between Mr Right, Mr Wrong or Mr Right Now.

Fantastically funny and whimsical, this heartwarming novel will charm fans of Milly Johnson and Jill Mansell.

Disappointed

Not quite the same quality listen as other books by TA. The narration did not help as the voices were all over the shop. Nearly returned the book but never say die and the story line improved slightly towards the end when every other dialogue from the central character wasn't punctuated with references to childless state.

Hmmm - good story

Good story but the narration was quite alien to the actual characters. I stuck with it as I liked the story. But pretty sure the characters would not have all had incredibly strong public school accents ! Also, had the narrator ever watched Jaws? Just curious!!!!

A good book can be hard to find, this one's a gem

After my third time listening to this one (over several years), I thought I'd write or update my review. Great narration and a really good juicy story. Recommending this, as it's quirky, with the odd laugh out loud moment.

Not as good as the other Trisha Ashley books.

The story and the characters are not entertaining as other books by Trisha Ashley that I have read. I thought the characters were mostly unactractive and I particularly did not like Cassie's Father. He was totally pointless. The story was disappointing too. There was not the level of humour and it was disappointing. I have loved the other books by Trisha Ashley they have made me laugh out loud but not this time.

Carry on Screaming !

Quirky and fun. Might not be to everyone's taste but I found it enjoyable and laughed out loud at some of it. Orla reminded me of Fenella Fielding in Carry On Screaming. If you have a good imagination and want to take your mind off things this is for you. The narrator was Brilliant.

Wow- really bad

Gave up with nearly 9 hours to go- really badly cast and dull as dishwater. Maybe the physical book is better but I won’t waste my money finding out!

Had to return

Very disappointed in this offering from Trisha Ashley. The story hadn't got going by over a quarter of the way in and the narrator sounded completely the wrong age for the characters. I eventually gave up and returned the book for a refund.
