About this listen

The journey through life came to a T-junction. This is your invitation to pry into the diary, be the other tourist on the train, a voyeur at the accident, an eavesdropper on the argument. Two one-track minds merge with train-wreck results.

The girl Graham Field left in England is not the one who arrives in India. Sofia sees the trip as her swansong before motherhood, impatient to exchange backpack for a baby sling.

So begins the journey which is the:

Indian Itinerary of Endurance

  • A cold snap makes for a chilly reception in Delhi
  • First-class aggravation in Agra, tension at the Taj Mahal
  • Backtrack to the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, a brief respite from outstretched hands
  • Non-stop to balmy Bombay and a runny bum
  • Tunnel vision, reaching down a Goan sewer for the irretrievable
  • Cross-country to Pondicherry, pondering decoupling
  • Wrong side of the tracks in Madras
  • Mind the gap year in Mahabalipuram
  • Grave digging, scrotum flicking, a big bhang triggers a pointless train of thought in Konark
  • Striking differences in Calcutta
  • Teased in Darjeeling, limited Himalayan view
  • Letting off steam walking into Nepal
  • Curfew and confrontation, the relationship reaches the end of the line in Kathmandu

Graham Field has been a great companion while out and about, and gives food for thought in his most recent book.

Second time or is it maybe the third time I’ve listened to this. I pick up a bit more each time, like Graham’s style, whit bc and humour. Tells it as it is and it is easy to relate to.

Why to go it alone!

Graham Field has a very calm way of telling his stories, he narrates his own books which is always a bonus when listening too an audiobook. This book is no3 in the trilogy but you could listen to it even if you haven’t listened or read the first 2 and still enjoy it. It’s a really good listen.

India and Nepal.

Once again Graham invites us to tune in to his literary reality show and once again it’s full of emotion, inspiration and humour. The rise and fall of a relationship examined along the way of a journey through India and Grahams mind.

Like all his writings this is a highly entertaining story and stands alone as a very worthwhile read, if you enjoy it (as I’m sure you will) I recommend you seek out his other books.

Live the journey, Love the honesty, Laugh along with him

No the audiobooks. What were you thinking! I’ve enjoyed all of Graham’s audiobooks. This one is the best yet: funny, honest and thought provoking. Also Graham’s best performance to date. Looking forward to the next one!

I go to bed with Graham nearly every night and I can’t get enough of him!
