About this listen

With King Richard's return from captivity and Prince John's exile, a weary peace settles on England after years of civil war. But across the border in Wales, the vicious struggle to decide who shall rule Gwynedd still rages.

To tip the balance, the rebel Prince, Llywelyn, calls in an old debt from the Earl of Chester. The Prince saved the Earl's life and helped him take back his city. Now, he wants Sir Roland Inness and the Invalid Company to help him take back his country.

Many twists in this tale, most of them plausible. A good adventure yarn that young adults and older would enjoy. Excellent impression of time and place.

Interesting medieval war story

I loved this book! Couldn’t put it down; as with all in this series.
I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys mediaeval adventure stories. Lots of swash and buckle with a bit of history and romance thrown in too.
Wayne Grant is up there with the best authors in this genre.
I enjoyed the narration by James Young and although I understand some listeners were disgruntled by his interpretation it didn’t bother me, the story was so good and all in all I think James has done a good job. His accents remained true to each character throughout and I found myself fully immersed in the story at all times.
Can’t wait for the next book!

Next time, take a few moments to learn the correct pronunciation of each name. Story was promising, but couldn't listen to the butchering of Welsh names any longer

Lazy narration
