About this listen
Welcome to Thornthwaite, a quaint village tucked up in England’s beautiful but rainy Lake District…where homecomings and surprises await the four Holley sisters....
Esther Holley, the eldest in the family, has always had her life firmly in control until a miscarriage knocks her off course. Two months later, still emotionally spinning, she separates from her husband, Will, a sheep farmer and man of few words and moves back in with her parents.
Life as a singleton 30-something living in her parents’ house is miserable, but Esther is determined to reboot her life, including going on a few unfortunate dates. She’s shocked when tight-lipped Will shows up on her doorstep determined to woo her back. They’ve been married for seven years, but Will wants to return to the beginning, dating and getting to know each other again.
New challenges face them as they start over - and new chances, too. Can Esther and Will save their marriage, especially when faced with the hardest decision of all.

A vicarage reunion
I really enjoyed this story. Kate demonstrates a good understanding of the emotional turmoil experienced by couples who have a shared loss, real or otherwise. I have listened to other stories by this author that have not demonstrated the same level of emotional understanding. This is a really good story.

Story
Lack of research on the pronounciation of place names like “Keswick”. Made me cringe every time.

village life
I enjoyed this book. Having been brought up in a small village I could relate to a few of the characters. the only thing I found annoying was the pronunciation of the town Keswick. it is not pronounced Kes Wick the w is silent and it is pronounced Kes ick. Perhaps future books will have the narrator pronounced it correctly as I am sure it annoyed those who live there.

not a ready to go to sleep with
The four stories of the sisters are gripping series of stories. If like me you like to listen to a book while dropping off to sleep, this is not a series to do that with. I can't wait to find out what happens to the family members in the next book A Wedding in the family.

Pleasant story very light feel good...
The one infuriating thing was the reader persistently mispronounced the lake land town of Keswick... someone please, please, please tell her the 'w' is silent!! it is pronounced Kesik.... as a northerner this spoilt the book for me...

Good story but
I liked this story, it was the first one I listened to of the series as it was free. Would have listened to the other’s in the series but after reading other reviews about the readers mispronunciation of Keswick in the other audiobooks as well, I
would find it annoying every time the place was mentioned. Surely, this would have been noticed and the reader told the correct way of saying Keswick.

Nice story well read, but..,,,
The mispronunciation of Keswick, which is mentioned frequently, in this book began to annoy me profusely. The W is silent in Keswick as is the H in bonhomie, also used a few times.

Enjoyable
A happy gentle story. Easy to listen to but please, some ‘proof listen’ to these. So many mangled and mispronounced words. Had me shouting at my phone!
