About this listen
An unprecedented behind-the-scenes portrait of the Trump presidency from the anonymous senior official whose first words of warning about the president rocked the nation's capital.
On September 5, 2018, the New York Times published a bombshell essay and took the rare step of granting its writer anonymity. Described only as "a senior official in the Trump administration," the author provided eyewitness insight into White House chaos, administration instability, and the people working to keep Donald Trump's reckless impulses in check.
With the 2020 election on the horizon, Anonymous is speaking out once again. In this book, the original author pulls back the curtain even further, offering a first-of-its-kind look at the president and his record -- a must-read before Election Day. It will surprise and challenge both Democrats and Republicans, motivate them to consider how we judge our nation's leaders, and illuminate the consequences of re-electing a commander in chief unfit for the role.
This book is a sobering assessment of the man in the Oval Office and a warning about something even more important -- who we are as a people.

Throughout the book, the author continually references:
1) The ancient Greek philosophers, Homer, Virgil, Cicero, etc, on how people in government should deport themselves;
2) The philosophers of the Scottish enlightenment, particularly Hume, whose writings are the base of most, certainly a big chunk, of the Ameican Bill of Rights and Constitution;
3) The precedent of other American presidents, particularly the impeachment of President Andrew Jackson.
The author of this book is clearly well read in both philosophy and history. I'd have though that they, the author, would stick out like a "sore thumb" , given that throughout the book, the author, he or she, has a not so flattering view of the other people, who presently are members of the Trump administration.
Hopefully, history will eventually reveal the author of this book and it'll be interesting to see that in fact, if they were as they state "They're the only adult in the room!"
A really good book, depressing, but well worth reading!

Interesting debate about the state of American society.
I don’t agree with the comment that Donald J Trump is a reflection of America today. Based on the fact if someone lies continuously purely to dupe the electorate then that is not American. A compulsive liar likes to create smoke all the time to confuse and make people give up. Americans should not give up
Interesting listen. It’s worth it
