About this listen

The latest Kitt Hartley mystery, set in the heart of Yorkshire.

A serial killer is loose in Yorkshire and has claimed three victims in three months. Eleven days before each murder, a large purple V is painted on the front door of the victim's house. The victims, all of whom have some association with the occult, are found drained of blood with two red marks on their neck.

When Ruby Barnett comes home one evening to find a large purple V on her front door, it becomes clear she is the so-called Vampire Killer's next victim. Private Investigators Kitt Hartley and Grace Edwards have just eleven days to solve the mystery and save Ruby's life. The clock is ticking.

First 3 books were fab. These last 2 are dire. Awful narration and poor storyline.

only gets worse

This is my first experience of this author. While a serial killer is involved it is closer to a cosy mystery than I expected. Was a quick entertaining read/listen

Delightful mystery

I have only been able to listen to a couple of chapters because of the narrator. It would be nice if she took a breath and slowed down. There is little warmth in her voice and because of the speed I didn't feel like I could relax and enjoy the journey of the story.

Disappointed

These are meant to be light/cosy crime which is why I buy them.
I am not sure if this story was weaker or if the narrator was worse than usual.
The first narrator of this series was brilliant.
I thought I would get used to the change. I haven't. This narrator sounds like she is reading a laundry list and is bored. There is no change in tone whether she is reading as a man or woman or what is happening in the action.
Consequently she saps the energy out of the stories.
I know I am not alone in this view and there are many comments to this effect so why do you continue to use a narrator who doesn't sound as if she is enjoying the reading?
Has Helen Cox listened to her?

Reading a Laundry List

I LOVED this book. I was suspicious of everyone and was genuinely surprised at some turns.

The narrators accents were kind of in and out, but nothing that disturbed the story at all. I will miss the narrator of the first few books though.

I am obsessed with the Kitt Hartley series.

Storyline that had me hooked

The narration of this Story is pathetic. Sounds like a young child reading aloud in class. Made it very boring to listen and I kept falling asleep 😴. Gave up before halfway through. 😒

Narration spoilt this for me!🤔
