About this listen
'A stunning tale of myth, magic and music – perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman.
When the birth of Ana Clara’s twin children leaves her near death in a hospital bed in the Brazilian backcountry town of Macaprana, her children’s father, Matheus, must make a difficult decision. he decides to sell one of the children to a corrupt American adoption firm.
Twenty-five years later, in New York City, Ben knows nothing of his birth family - until an encounter with a mysterious guitar brings him visions of a man who is as alike to him as his reflection in the mirror, and he begins to question everything he knows about his life.
Back in Brazil, Anderson wants nothing more than to escape to Bahia to study with the great guitar legends of Salvador. Then he, too, is gifted a guitar that brings him visions and forces him to confront his family’s hidden past.
Meanwhile, the Orixás, the immortal powers who dwell in Orum, jockey to control these events they have set in motion on Earth, the consequences of which will affect more than the lives of this one shattered family - and may affect the fate of the world.

Compelling intriguing magical musical myth tale
A new author for me took a while to get into but did enjoy the story of myth, magic and music story of twins separated at birth that finally find each other through twin guitars, one twin is in New York the other in Brazil are connected by the guitars as they play they see visions of each other.. Narration is good and helps with the storyline

Very enjoyable
A well written story that I found engrossing. It’s unusual plot kept moving twisting and turning. There was always room for my own imagery and imagination. Thank you beautiful performed.

Something wonderfully different
Thoroughly enjoyed this story which interweaves the spiritual plane with the earthly realm. Good storytelling, nicely narrated. Would recommend to anyone wanting to listen something slightly out of the box.

Loved it! Mythical, magical audiobook, worth a listen!
LOVED this audiobook! It’s a fantastic story of family that weaves together compelling, relatable contemporary lives in New York and Brazil with the Orixas in the mythical spacetime of Orum. Dismukes’s lyrical prose and Pacheco’s engaging narration bring the music of the story to life perfectly. It has the legendary quality of oral history and myth which works really well as an audiobook, plus everything else that makes a great novel- well-developed characters, adventure, mystery - and magical guitars! A truly stunning debut- Dismukes is definitely one to watch. Highly recommend a listen!

It's good
At first it was difficult to follow But by the end it all pieced together.
The narrator did a good job and he's accent fitted well.

Needs serious editing
The book needs serious editing, so much unnecessary description that have nothing to do with the story.
The narrator performs too much he sounds like he is excited and awed about everything as though he is telling a loooong story to children.
I like the core story, could be told in half the time. Missed opportunities.
