About this listen
For the first time ever, Abigay arrives at her grandparents’ farm, Willowfield, without her twin brother Gabriel. She misses him a lot. To make matters worse, she learns that the farm is in serious financial trouble and Grandpa is losing hope. In desperation, Abigay comes up with a bold plan. Grandpa is not impressed. Will the mysterious discovery in the barn make a difference? Is Christopher King’s threat real? Will the plan be enough to save Willowfield and their hopes for the future?
This multigenerational story is written by the author of the ground-breaking Sammy books about a mixed-race family. It is based on her own family experience of diversity and family-run farms.

Great story and a lovely listen
As an adult I really enjoyed this engaging story of a young girl, Abigay, whose tenacity and positivity win the day,
Abigay is staying with her grandparents at their farm while her brother Gabriel is in hospital. She learns that the farm is under threat and sets out, with her brother, to save it. They are helped and hindered along the way by an entertaining cast of family, friends and animals.
The book also involves difficult topics, such as the long-term illness of a child or the challenges of dealing with change as an older person. These are handled with an understanding and lightness of touch that adds to the depth of the story without becoming melodramatic.
In a way the atmosphere reminded me of ‘Charlotte’s Web’, although the plot isn't similar.
I can recommend as a good read/listen for grown -ups or younger! Wonderfully read by Joshua Merara – also I picked up a few good jokes from Abigay!

Kids bring failing farm to exciting new life
This delightful story makes an excellent audiobook, with the narrator giving each of the numerous characters their own voice.
Abigay goes to stay with her grandparents on their farm, where they are worried they may have to sell. Abigay`s twin brother is in hospital and together, on their phones, they hatch a plan to get the farm back on its feet in spite of "the villains" who want to get their hands on it.
The book has humour, loving relationships, plenty of animals, and people coping with big life changes in a confusing world. Very enjoyable.

A modern classic
Abigay’s Farm is a modern classic — a delightful family tale, with a diverse cast of characters, contemporary issues and a unique setting. I especially appreciated the multi generational aspect where the grandparent – grandchild relationship took centre stage.
The narration was wonderful and the story moved along at a swift pace with lots of twists and turns. Highly recommended!
