About this listen

The Sunday Times best seller Aftermath is the 12th novel in Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks series, following on from Cold Is the Grave.

Number 35 The Hill is an ordinary house in an ordinary street. But it is about to become infamous. When two police constables are sent to the house following a report of a domestic disturbance, they stumble upon a truly horrific scene. A scene which leaves one of them dead and the other fighting for her life and career. The identity of a serial killer, the Chameleon, has finally been revealed. But his capture is only the beginning of a shocking investigation that will test Inspector Alan Banks to the absolute limit.

A gruesome but carefully drafted slice of life

Pleased to have refund the DCI Banks novels. Just when I thought I was running out of my favourite genre.

Interesting Story

The narration is amazing for male characters by the female ones especially the ones with accent? Awful. Simply awful.

Gripping stuff

Always enjoy this series of books. This one was a little more graphic in parts but so gripping. Keeps you guessing til the end.

One of the best Banks stories

One of the best Banks stories in the series, but also quite heavy, truly horrific, with vivid descriptions of the scenes, horrors, violence. The most difficult parts to listen to for me were the references to child abuse and torture. The book is so well written and as usual the investigation and story is followed through thoroughly, with interesting twist and turns into the stories of all the different main characters. But full of triggers and emotional pain, my heart was heavy and the ending as in the story provided no real resolve, just sadness. It is the story that touches on the horror of real life crime more than any of the previous ones in the series.
