But it's not so simple to run away from your past.

On the night before she is due to join her new classmates for her first lesson, a terrible knocking at the front gate summons Adunni back to her home village, Ikati, where her dramatic story of resilience first began.

As Tia frantically tries to protect her from an uncertain fate, Adunni must try to save not only herself but all the young women of her village, and transform Ikati into a place where girls are allowed to claim the bright futures they deserve - and roar their stories to the world.

You can Roar

Another outstanding book from Abi Dari. This book contains many important themes and lessons - not just the suppression of women but forced marriage, female genital mutilation and the important of education.

The narration was perfect.

Aduni is becoming a young woman, and on the night she is supposed to leave for her a schooling a terrible thing happens. I can't say more without giving it all away, but wow. We follow Aduni and Ms Tia on another breathtaking journey.

I have only one complaint, it finished. Dare we hope for one more installment of this magnificent series?! I certainly hope so.

Utterly extraordinary

From the characters, to the storyline, the beautifully written prose, and wonderful narration. I was enthralled. What a follow-up to the amazing book, And So I Roar. Highly recommend to listeners.

Such an important book

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous reviewer. This book is so moving and so important. I would advise you to read The Girl with the Louding Voice first so that you understand the context, and simply because it is also a wonderful book. The writing is so warm, accessible and funny, but at the same time heartbreaking and profound. I challenge anyone not to fall in love with the main character, Adunni, and not to learn something from what she has to say. Adjoa Andoh's narration brings the book to life too; the characters are voiced superbly.

So beautiful and courageous!

It would have been 5 stars all around but for the mispronunciation of simple things like "papa" and "Adunni". The lady who voiced this, did in fact do a great job but the nuance was missing - around names, phrases and the like. Authors should read their work if there are language specific names and phrases. Saying that, it was beautiful!

An excellent book

Doesn’t seem like a friction.

A very interesting read.

I enjoyed every bit of the book. At a point I thought Miss Tia would leave Kayus behind. Overall my best read this year. Well done Abi.

An empowering listen

The continued story of Adoni was written with such a strong sense of the injustice of what happens to women worldwide, that it left me angry, sad and, at the same time, joyful. The roar of women in the book was loud and deserves to be read and listened to by all women and men.
A fantastic book.

A must read

This has broken me, made me laugh and filled me with hope and courage. This and the Girl with the Louding Voice are two of the best books I have ever listened to and I know I will be thinking about it for a long time.

Such a heartfelt book

This book was so heart wrenching and thought provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Itbwas so well read by tbe narrators and so well written. I would definitely recommend it and also her previous book, the girl wuth the louding voice which I would recommend reading before this one, however if you read this one first you will still be able to keep track.
