Summary

In the distant future, in our own galactic backyard....

With the Confederation on the brink of war, the Watchtower organization struggles to maintain peace despite the ongoing threat of the Secessionists. A killer is picking off Watchmen one by one. Following the philosophy of "Set a thief to catch a thief", Watchman Wisconsin Lockerbie hires cyborg assassin Jersey Jackson to track down the killer. While embroiled in the criminal underworld, they uncover a plot to build a superweapon that will tilt the upcoming conflict in favor of the Secessionists. Lockerbie, Jackson, and a motley crew of misfit aliens must set aside their differences to save the Confederation.

An out of this world adventure

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the author's Just Cause series (which is well worth a listen), so once I had listened to all the books in the series I thought I would gives the authors other works ago. I started with this book but wasn't really sure what to expect but whatever it was the author certainly delivered and I loved it. I did get a bit confused because there is a lot of characters with unusual names and nicknames but I soon sorted it out and was hooked. There was plenty of action, battles, space travel and completed off with a great cast of characters. Surprisingly we also got some familiar faces in the book, in the form of space aliens the Hind, who we met with Just Cause. The author has out done himself again by creating an imaginative world that is not only interesting but backed up by a good story.
Someone is killing off the Watchmen one by one and when Wisconsin gets wind that his trainer and friend is the next target he hires Jersey Jackson to help stop the killer. Jersey is a cyborg bounty hunter that will work for the highest bidder. Can be really trust her to help keep his mentor alive? And can they even find her in the first place? There job is made harder as every step they make is under scrutiny and they will have to battle there way through space in order to stop a plot to let off a superweapon.
I liked the narrators with three talented readers the story was a lot of fun, especially some of the space aliens voices.
