About this listen

D-Day is a month away. Berlin still expects the Allied landing to be in the Pas de Calais region, but the Normandy invasion planners have a surprise for them. Tactical intelligence on German naval reactions is needed during the early hours of Operation Neptune, the naval portion of the Allied invasion, Operation Overlord. Navy Captain Tony Romella and a small contingent of radio intercept operators are covertly inserted into the Normandy region before D-Day to provide this critical intelligence. Romella’s strategic location gives rise to being tasked by London with impromptu and perilous additional missions with the OSS and French Resistance.

When Romella’s missions are complete, returning to London is blocked by formidable Wehrmacht forces that stubbornly defend positions behind the Allied beachhead in the Normandy region. Romella’s choice is to wait weeks for the Allied forces to secure the Normandy area, risking discovery and certain execution, or embark on a hazardous trek to safety.
