I really enjoyed this audio version of one of my favourite books. The sweet story about unexpected love was beautifully brought to life by a first rate narrator. A lovely, relaxing listen with a side of sweet emotion.

Beautifully Built is a sweet but quick story about an overweight guy named Logan who has low self esteem. When he meets Caine, a bar owner, it’s love at first sight, but Logan’s insecurities are a huge obstacle to their happy ever ending. It’s a nice story with some internal angst, fluff, and funny moments, with a happy ending. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook in one day and enjoyed it.

I read this book with my eyes over a year ago but, shame on me, I didn’t review it then. Receiving a copy of the audiobook was the nudge I needed to finally do a review.

I haven’t read a lot of books with a plus-size male lead character and that aspect of the story attracted me a lot. Plus size people deserve to find their HEA, too. The story isn’t a long one but it felt longer – in a good way. Being a plus-size gal myself, I can certainly relate to Logan and his lack of self-confidence. Caine had a very difficult time convincing Logan that he was interested in him and didn’t see his size as a problem. With patience, he finally made Logan realize that despite the way he sees himself, other people don’t always see him that way.

The story has some very nice smexy time and John Solo had perfect voices for Logan and Caine. His performance of this story greatly enhanced my enjoyment of it.

It thrilled me to hear that TH Compton’s debut novel coming to audio and by no other than the wonderful John Solo, who did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life. “Beautifully Built” is a charming and heartwarming romance that tugged on my heartstrings and captivated my attention the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. I adored both lead characters, Logan and Caine, the secondary characters were just as fabulous too. Logan has some insecurities and self-worth issues stemming from his weight, being an introvert does not help matters either, he’d rather stay home and hang with his cat than go out but his good friend, Syl, pushes him out of his comfort and gets him to go out. Once out, he is fine and has a good time with his friends. Caine is the co-owner of the Built Bar, he has always been more of a hookup type of guy but would not mind meeting his special someone. And then someone’s laugh captured his attention, and after he saw him, he knew he wanted to meet him. Logan was not expecting to capture anyone’s attention, never mind the hot bartender. At first he did not know how to act, but Caine convinced him he was interested in getting to know him more. I loved how everything played out in this beautifully written and plotted story, a low on angst and high on charm story that has the perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Compton touches on something many deal with in their lives, a serious topic which she keeps real, but does not drag the story down with it, instead she lifts the story up and turns it in to a feel-good story that leaves you smiling. TH Compton, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, John Solo is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. His portrayal of these characters was spot on, giving each a voice that fit their persona perfectly and was believable in every role he played. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into his performance. Solo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.
