About this listen

It begins with a phone call. Gordon Reeve's brother has been found dead in his car in San Diego. The car was locked from the inside; a gun was in his hand. In the US to identify the body, Gordon realises that his brother has been murdered. What's more, it's soon obvious that his own life is in danger. Once back in Scotland he finds out his home has been bugged by professionals. But Reeve is a professional too. Ex-SAS, he was half of a two-man unit with someone he came to fear, then to hate. It looks like his nemesis is back...

“It Isn’t The Fall That Kills You”.

Out of all the Ian Rankin audiobooks I’ve listened to so far I have to say I haven’t enjoyed it as much as his others.

It had all the usual things you would expect from him, plot twists and turns and dark humour. The thing that let it down for me was it felt like it was too long. For the majority of the story I found myself loosing interest, something I’ve not done with other audiobooks by Ian Rankin.

Also , unlike his other audiobooks, I didn’t feel like binge listening. Plus, when I fell asleep whilst listening, I didn’t bother to backtrack.

It’s a real shame, as the idea of the story was great.

I again (as when he narrated the previous audiobook in the series, found the narrator to deliver the characters voices in a monotone. Some of the accents he used were also quite stereotypical.

All that said, story did improve towards the end of the audiobook. The pace picked up and there was a lot more action. It was also left with a cliffhanger (pun not intended), so perhaps a future book may be better.

very captivating with memories coming to the fore

Enjoyed the book felt sorry for the wife and family. The past comes back and tests the resolve . Interesting story but with some predictable parts perhaps as you become the person.

Tremendous:Another super story from Ian Rankin

Fast paced, the story unfolds and revolves around rumours that circulated in the 70’s and 80’s and still prevail today.Excellent fleshing out of the characters in true Rankin fashion Steven Pacey narration. Is superb a great story that manages to hold the readers attention right to the end.

Blood E Good !

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Hunt to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version, but, the audible version keep me engaged for an 11 hour flight and the following taxi ride.

What about Steven Pacey’s performance did you like?

Clear diction and balanced emotion.

Loved it !

First Ian Rankin novel and was excellent. Yes I guess the ending was a bit predictable, but a full on exciting story throughout. Narration was outstanding! Probably one of the best narrations I’ve heard so far. Aceents galore and very believably read. Certainly worth a listen

Detailed and absorbing

if you are looking for Rebus then you will be disapoiinted. if you are looking for a good read in the boys adventure style then this is it it is a book that unfolds at its own pace and will not be hurried. Gordon Reeve is a damaged man driven by his pink mist of rage and trained in deadly skills. all he wants is a quet life. conspracy theroists will love this. Big business as the ultimate corporate baddie and the lone avenger facing deadly foes and his own horrors. This flawed hero deserved more books.
