I enjoyed this - not read anything from this author before so was wary. A reasonable storyline although the heart of the book tended to go between a crime novel and a romantic novel! Would have liked a little more character development but made a good listen

From started to finish, the book twisted and turned keeping you engaged. The romance that developed was at times too drawn out and took away from the suspense of the murderer. Ending was brilliant though and I am looking forward to discovering the authors other books.

The beginning was exciting and fast paced but slowed and dragged out a little towards the end.
However I really enjoyed this audio book especially as it was free
The narrator has a nice easy to listen voice.

I wasn't impressed by the story. I'm glad I didn't use a credit on it. I wanted a murder investigation instead I got a boring story about an egoistic detective who develops a crush on the victim's daughter. not what I was looking for. I won't be continuing.

As with other reviewers there are issues with the story, but keep in mind that it is a product of it's time.
A good premise, a good story just a bit old now, but worth listening to on a long journey to keep you guessing.

It was fantastic I only listen to detective crime book and was beginning to think I heard all the best ones. Over 1000 listens and I'd put this one in top 100.
Great narrator perfect choice easy to listen too. Good story line not the usual who done it with twists and turns sending you one way then another just a solid easy to follow build up.
Warning Anyone not good with animal cruelty short bit at the start that is horrible.. I nearly stopped and returned the book but decided to continue and if any more I'd stop. There wasn't. I like my killers to love animals 🤣

I found the plot interesting, but the relationship between 2 detectives most unreal and between girl and detectives to distracting. once trust had been broken between girl and detective, too much time spent on self reproach.
