Very clever

The blogs at the beginnings of each chapter were irritating and at times I found the narrative opaque but otherwise this was Ms Harris on excellent form.
She skillfully misleads her readers with subtle misdirection but I will avoid spoilers.
Readers who enjoyed the St Oswald series will enjoy this.

Don’t be put off!

Don’t let the negative reviews deter you from giving this a try. It’s terrific. I hesitated for some time but should have trusted Joanne Harris. She gets inside human psychology and spreads it out without being either over-deliberate or shy. It’s a vicious little tale. Perhaps some readers are uncomfortable at being in touch with this darkness, or unfamiliar with this internet-based narrative but I found it a fascinating and intimate storytelling style. Which is, after all, the point.
I have to say the narration was fine until he introduced the accents - then you could hear the effort and it interfered with your involvement which was annoying as it mattered all characters were believable.

Great book, disappointing narration

I loved this when I read it, but this narrator is terrible. His Yorkshire accent is awful, his women sound like a Monty Python sketch, the Northern Irish (?) veers into something resembling a cowboy drawl, and whether the mother is Geordie/Scouse/Yorkshire remains a mystery.
It's a good story, kicking off a great series, but in dire need of rerecording.

Disappointing narration

Having "read" Gentlemen & Players I was looking forward to Blue Eyed Boy, but unfortunately it was a different narrator and his Yorkshire accent was just not up to scratch; veering between Geordie and Scouse and skirting Yorkshire via Manchester. The story however was up to Joanne Harris' usual high standard.

Bizarre

I persevered with it out of curiosity to see what happened. I found the whole story line and characters quite bizarre and the narration by Colin Moody definitely helped. I dont think I would have finished the book if I had read it myself. Gentlemen and Players is a far more enjoyable book. Not sure if I will read/ listen to the third book in the series

Annoying reading

It's a great story but why did the reader have to do all the female characters as if performing in a Monty Python sketch? It nearly made me give up

Not the best Joanne Harris

I found this a really disappointing book as I had loved all Joanna Harris' others.
It was very hard to listen to. I gave up after giving it a really good go. Sorry will not be recommending this. I found it hard to follow and the never ending 'blog' updates just annoyed me.

Useless narration

I've got 12 hours and 2 minutes to go and I simply can't take anymore of this unrealistic erratic narration. I can't comment on the story as I don't know what it is. I do know that I have listened to Gentlemen and Players, Different Class and A Narrow Door and enjoyed the narration and became immersed in the storyline. A return I'm afraid.
