I love this book. For all its apparent embellishments and the genuine accounts of sadistic adults and public school brutality, it makes for compelling listening. The prose and storytelling is just so damn good. And Dan Stevens’ reading is pitch perfect. It’s like listening to super-condensed Dahl, all his marvellous books somehow rolled into one. Great writing, great reading, great tales of the unexpected from another world and time.

The combination of this story and Dan Stevens is spectacular I was totally lost and fascinated by the story and being narrated by Dan is sheer brilliance, With Dan's Tv and film performances of being in the armed forces in the same time frame as the book just brings this story to life as if we are watching in real life or at least in in 4D. Bravio. 5 stars. all round

The performance doesn't 100% match my understanding of the story but I think everyone has their own understanding of the story and it is well performed in general!
