I’ve listened and loved quite a few Karen Swans but this one I found really annoying and I didn’t like any of the characters and I’ve listened for quite a bit and there doesn’t seem to be much of a story compared to her other stories

First off I love Karen Swan books.

This one I found a little slow to start however once in I was addicted. A budding romance and a poignant sad storyline all rolled into one. Writing on tough subjects cannot be easy yet Karen handled it very well. Definitely recommend.

Slow to start, but loved it when it got going, it could have gone on for another couple of chapters as a lot was left unfinished.

I loved this book, it made me laugh out loud in places at some of the mad antics of Netty and her gang. The underlying story of hope, despair and loss made me keep turning the pages

Funny, poignant page turner

This is the first book for many a day that is literally making me smile as I listen. I’m about quarter of the way through, and going to take my time with the remainder. Who am I kidding- I’m going to binge listen until this feel good book has been devoured. Obviously, I have already drawn my conclusions as to the ending but as I’ve already been surprised a couple of times, so maybe the ending will also surprise me. Watch this space 🤨.

I wondered where on earth this story was going to begin with. But gradually I got drawn in and began to care about the characters. Sometimes frustrating and other times couldn’t wait to read what happened next. It kept me guessing. Yes I could foresee what I wanted to happen ultimately, but I couldn’t see how it would pan out. Will miss them all now 😏

Imogen Church perform brilliantly in the narrative giving each character a very distinctive individual personality. The story is also great bringing in many relateable events and landmarks of London alongside much deeper topics.
