About this listen

Waking up in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head is bad. Finding out I have amnesia is far worse. My memory is practically wiped. I don't know why someone wants me dead. Hell, I don't even know my name. They say my name is Christian Cross. Too bad that name means nothing to me.

I haven't forgotten everything, though. Grayson Laurie has always been my kryptonite, and it would take more than a bullet to the brain to forget him. He assures me that I'm imagining the distance between us, but I know better. I just don't know how to fix it. I console myself that at least I've reached rock bottom and things can't get worse...until they do.

My life is a tangled mess of lies and deceit. The more I learn about myself, the less I want to know. I want nothing more than an honest future with Gray, but the past isn't about to let me go without a fight.

Fortunately, I'm starting to realize that fighting is my specialty.

Definitely not a standalone! Enjoyable & entertaining - Two books, one story

You'll either love this or hate, I reckon. Do not think this is a standalone in a series, the story is left at a huge cliffhanger at the end. I don't see a problem with that other than the second part not being included in the subscription. This story, however, was captivating enough to me that I grabbed the second book with my points/credits after reaching barely the first quarter of this book.

This was a happy surprise for me after a few "meh" picks in the M/M romance action/mystery genre. Complete opposite of some other reviews here my experience was very much on the edge of my seat.
From the start I was pulled right into the story and I loved the way the author and narrator first had me theorize what was up, then burst out laughing, and next listen with a bated breath. It's not common of me to rewind to recap on what was said if there's a distraction mid listen but this book made me do that, too

Had too much missing to hit the spot for me…

Interesting enough plot line, good narration (albeit at x1.3 speed for me…) and a new to me author - all good! It did remind of Bourne Identity type plot line just with MM MCs, but it really did to hold its own. It just didn’t hit those spots to tempt me to finish the book. When it got to the end of chapter 12, I didn’t even feel tempted to come back, so I threw in the towel… Christian’s internal dialogue where he either appeared immature or just untrue to character was also a bit of a struggle to get past. Had so much potential. Maybe one to come back to at some point….

Nice plot idea, writing not so great.

I had to speed up the narration to 1.25 because the narrator chose to go for slow and broody, and I just wanted him to get on with the story. The story itself was better as an idea than the execution. It could have been tighter and edited with a view to pulling the listener in. The first half of the book was of Christian in hospital. It went on far too long, then when the pace got faster the book ended on a cliffhanger.

No true ending after 9 n half hour listen.

After nine and a half hours no real conclusion for story. I can't remember if this was free or bought book. This book has definitely missing parts. It jumped about and I wondered how I missed bits. I have been listening and know story missing bits. Might explain why ending does not make sence.
