Summary
A relentless FBI profiler hunts a vicious killer.
When old evidence turns up on a fresh corpse, ASAC Lincoln Frazer is determined it won't delay the execution of a convicted serial killer. But when more young women are brutally slain, it becomes clear - this new killer is intimately familiar with the old murders.
A dedicated emergency physician hides a dark secret.
Former Army Captain Dr. Isadora Campbell helped her mother conceal a terrible crime. After her mother's death, Izzy resigned her commission and returned to the Outer Banks to raise her rebellious teenage sister. But it doesn't take long for Izzy to suspect that someone knows exactly what she did, all those years ago.
If they work together, maybe no one else will die.
With pressure mounting to reopen the old case, Frazer will use any means possible to catch the killer. Thrust together during the investigation, he and Izzy find themselves reluctantly attracted to one another, and begin an affair. Meanwhile, the killer is much closer than they think. Izzy's confession of her secret drives Frazer away as he struggles with her deception. By the time he realizes he's fallen in love with the stubborn woman, the killer has her. Now the race is on to save Izzy and any chance of a future they might have together.

An Excellent Instalement
I do love a good suspense series, and this one of them. It seems all agents are finding the love of their lives. The most emphasis is put on solving crimes, and the agents in this case are chasing a serial killer operating in the style a murderer seating on death row, and he is only weeks away from death.
FBI agent Frazier is determined to make sure the serial killer sitting on Death Row doesn’t gets away it, all because we have copycat operating in this area. Former Army Captain Dr Isadora Campbell is on the beach a young woman is found dead on the sand dunes where she was walking her dog.
I loved the complexity of the plot. I changed my mind two or three times about who the murderer was and I still got it wrong.
The character development was also very strong and this is true for the side characters as well. There was an emotional depth to this thriller which I find is often missing from the mass produced romantic suspense titles saturating the market. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series.
I have to say that I found the first few chapters quite sad and emotional. Rape is a sensitive and difficult topic to write about and when it involves the murder of a young girl you can’t help but feel shocked and saddened. The friends’ and parents’ grief was almost tangible in these opening chapters.
I have listened to many of Eric G. Dove’s other performances and have always enjoyed listening to him but, he did an amazing job with this one and I’ve seen saw his name on plenty of titles in different genres after listening to this one I think it would help persuade me to buy it.

Another great book in this series
A realistic romance mixed with a murder mystery that had me guessing right up to the last chapter. The couple in this book are not perfect, they make mistakes and they mess things up. Toni Anderson has pretty much nailed the romantic suspense genre with this book. Excellent plot development, action which moves along at a decent pace, intertwined by a developing romance that is neither simple nor smooth going. We get the POV of several characters, including the murder victim in the first chapter which makes for a chilling, but absorbing beginning to the story. This is part of a series of books, but can easily be read as a standalone.
