Not my usual genre but this caught my attention. The story is unique with decent and interesting characters with seriously nasty vampires.
The narration was first class and I can’t wait for the sequel, well done.

Here is a book written by a great author who got me hooked from the first chapter, the characters are fantastic,you really get to understand many of them, Jack the main character is the young rising star of the Black dogs a religious army that protect the land from the Nostra, the vampires that take young children and use some to feed on some to be slaves and some to turn to its dark army, I really enjoyed this book especially with the great narration of Simon Vance who is my favourite audible reader, A great new take on Vampires, if in doubt just get this and enjoy a great tale, then Liston to the second part that is just as good in every way, Brilliant book

Its a very good story, great characterisation, good plots and counter plots , the narration was excellent the characters were brought to life and developed throughout the book. action scenes were very well described giving one a sense of being there.

The bond between the brothers is heartwarming and gut wrenching at the same time. All the dogs are leading characters at one point or another and being introduced to their back stories was flawlessly written into the story without taking away from the main plot. The heroine is nicely balanced and not clingy and pathetic. This book totally surprised me and I loved it. Look forward to the next books
