Summary

Darius son of Marklon isn't looking for love the night destiny comes to claim him. He's also not interested in crashing his new car. But when a human woman runs out into the road and he must swerve to avoid killing her...everything goes off course.

Disillusioned by his King's lack of leadership and the losses in the war against the Lessening Society, Darius finds purpose in protecting a woman he cannot make his own. Love finds a way, however—until the truth of what he is comes out and she leaves him in horror.

Unbeknownst to them both, Anne is carrying his young, a female who is destined to be Queen—and after a tragic reunion, he vows to protect their daughter. Resigned to perpetual sadness, he is determined to serve the memory of his beloved no matter the cost...unless by some miracle, fate sees fit to once again bring them together.

A roller coaster of emotion

Jr ward you create the most wonderful stories within the black dagger brotherhood mansion, this truly was another amazing book, I was going to wait till a hard copy came out as I’m only on the sinner at the moment but I couldn’t wait to meet Darius and Ann, to see how leg for them created the queen in standing!

Beautiful.

The story of Darius has been weaved in tiny hinted increments throughout all the novels of the BDB thus far, right from the very beginning. Now we get the whole story of Darius and his beloved, beautifully written. Haunting, achingly tragic yet also victorious.

As always a brilliant book

I can not get enough of this series. Hooked from start to finish yet again. It's so nice to have an adult series with such vibrant back stories and so beautifully written.

Darius - so needed to be told

Darius died in an explosion years before, he was always a name in a tale, or an anecdote. He was the brother who built the mansion in the mountains were they all now live.
He was the brother who wanted to see Wrath accept his crown and take up the leadership of the BDB.

Beth, Wrath's shellan, is Darius' daughter, he saw her born but he watched Anne her mother die.

BDB

Good to finally know more about Darius. It is such a shame they have so short time together on Earth. JR Ward is fabulous as always.
