About this listen

Bestselling author Kresley Cole continues her seductive Immortals After Dark series with this tale of a vampire shunned even by his own kind and a beautiful phantom, bound together by a passion they cannot resist.

A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK...

Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers - until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.

A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS...

To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth's brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own.

HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER?

Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?

Love

Kresley Cole's "Dark Needs at Night's Edge" is a gripping paranormal romance novel and the fifth book in the 'Immortals After Dark' series. It follows the same pattern of earlier books where an "unblooded" male finds his mate, but this time, the story is centered around Conrad, a male vampire who is also the brother of earlier heroes in the series.

The story begins with Conrad being brought to a haunted mansion by his brothers to cure him of his insanity. He is chained to a bed, and his brothers do not allow him to drink blood, which further adds to his starvation and insanity. Conrad is a tortured soul who is struggling to control his bloodlust, and he thinks that the beautiful woman who keeps visiting him is just a product of his imagination. However, he soon realizes that she is a ghost named Naomi.

Naomi, on the other hand, is a tragic character who was a famous ballerina before her ex-fiancé brutally took her life. She has been a lonely, miserable ghost for 80 years until Conrad starts talking to her. She did not know that vampires exist, just as Conrad did not know that ghosts exist. Naomi is drawn to Conrad's madness and bloodlust, and she feels a deep connection with him. However, she is not flesh and blood like him, so she cannot soothe his bloodlust.

The story revolves around two tortured creatures, born centuries apart, who were meant to be together. It is a story of love, sacrifice, and redemption. The author masterfully weaves together the plot with witty banter, steamy romance, and heart-wrenching moments. The character development is excellent, and the readers will feel emotionally invested in their journey.

Throughout the book, readers will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster as they witness Conrad and Naomi's struggles and triumphs. The author's vivid descriptions of the haunted mansion and the characters' emotions will transport readers to a world of immortals and ghosts. The chemistry between Conrad and Naomi is palpable, and the steamy romantic scenes are sure to leave readers wanting more.

In conclusion, "Dark Needs at Night's Edge" is an excellent addition to the 'Immortals After Dark' series, and it will keep readers hooked till the end. The author has once again proved her mastery in weaving an intricate, engaging, and unforgettable story that is sure to leave readers wanting more.

Dark needs at nights edge

I have all the books on my bookcase so love this series anyway. Robert Petkoff was a great narrator and he gave a great performance. The story was an interesting one as to how the ghost and the vampire become fated mates I will leave you to find out it was a good story of recovery, second chances and ultimately love and redemption

Great performance as usual

Robert Petkoff continues to be amazing. The story is ok — in fairness, I have high expectations of Kresley Cole, so I hoped for more. I see why I rated it just 3 stars on Goodreads after my first reading years ago — it just feels like the action only happens from like 3/4 of the way in
