Great story follows on from 4th Edition

Great story and awesome narrator!
Awesome to hear about the motivations of the Darkoath, especially with the choices they face for survival in the Vermondoom. The Narrator should be THE narrator for AoS stories ❤️

Enthralling human view of Chaos
The book was amazing at exploring fascinating ideas around the worship of Chaos without losing track of being a riveting action story. Poignant, clever, thrilling. It's beautifully written and very well read. It was a real treat to experience the depth of Chris's thinking about the tensions in a human follower of the dark gods and leader of their people.

A fun romp
I'm not overly familiar with New or Old Hammer so while I know what Skaven are I don't know what's the Gnaw(?). With that caveat, I founds this to be a fun tale of a manly antihero doing really manly things (like following through on the things he said he would do - phwoar!). It doesn't have anything meaningful to say about anything substantive but that's probably fine for a Warhammer book. I enjoyed my time with it and the narration definitely resonates with the tone of the story.

great narration, odd story
Great narration, but the story itself is quite fragmented and confused. Strange blend of Norse themes in a Warhammer world. I can see what they were trying to achieve but it's just a bit confused for me, and tries to be too many things. Worth a listen but not as good as some of the other WH titles!

the casting was a stroke of genius and made the whole book something else.
It was nice to see a perspective from some normalish people on the chaos side.

Well Read, Poor Read
Yet another brilliant opportunity for the Age of Sigmar literary universe to be laid bare, in all of its wicked glory, only to devolve in to tropes and what feels like lazy, or badly directed, plot development. The stereotypes and predictable twists can be seen coming from chapters away, and the final few chapters just get jumbled together in to a heap. There is so much potential in the worlds of Age of Sigmar, but so much time is wasted hammering on nails to set the tedious tone. I feel for the author of they were pushed in a direction they didn't want, but if not, it is yet another Black Library author who can't see a story through.

Extremely bland
Almost Identical to several Slaves to Darkness / Darkoath stories that have come before it. Except it has Skaven. Really really disappointing. If you've never read a Slaves to Darkness book before you might enjoy it. If you have skip it. Same tale rehashed over and over again. Books like Godeaters Son and Scourge of Fate are far superior. Wasn't even able to finish listening to this one it was so boring.

Good actor poor story
The book is very boring and dry with story and characters feeling dragged out. The actor reading it was good but couldent save this dribble marathon of a book
