A really good story!

So I really enjoyed this book and actually would quite like to know what happens next - although I understand that there is no sequel. But, by the end of the book I was pretty fed up with the main character. He was such wet blanket, so much of the plot came from him being inept, constantly loosing his car keys, not checking his email when there were limited forms of communication. But, nonetheless I did want to get to the end.

Believable story

Liked this story and it was very well narrated! The only downside really was the main character who was amongst the most irritating, useless and thickest character I have ever encountered! When the world is obviously starting to come apart why would you hide your guns and then hide your ammo somewhere else! Thick, thick thick! Many other examples of why his dna line should really be allowed to come to an end! Saying that im hoping there is a continuation of this book as his wife has more common sense in her broken little finger than the whole of her husband’s body!

Where is book 2

It’s been 4 years since book 1 was completed but without a sequel? Story line is very good and characters will resonate with the majority of people who are not survivalists.

Average

I know the characters weren’t supposed to be the standard strong military type but they were a little wet

A relatable story

The whole story felt very relatable raising questions about how much I would be unprepared for any future disasters. Clearly I learned nothing from Covid and seeing the world in chaos and denial.

Here the characters feel very real and the narrator gave each character depth. Really enjoyed it and will continue listening to more!

Cliff-hanger Ending

I liked the different POV from a non-survivalist trying to prep for a major disaster within days of it happening. I do feel most of the characters were far too soft. For ex, the evil drug criminal had plenty of time to take out his target at any time but waited a long time for no reason, and the actual hardened prepper took far too much time convincing his neighbour to prep and come with him WTSHTF, delaying his escape plan to get out of dodge. I liked the book but a lot of it seemed pretty unrealistic. There was a good plot twist though.

I'm definitely not a fan of authors ending books on a cliff-hanger, especially as it's been 4 years since book 1 was released and there doesn't appear to be a book 2 coming anytime soon.

A very believable storyline

A non-hero everyman becomes hero enough to overcome a survivalist 'event'. Well told and with advice. Very easy to imagine it could happen like this.

It's not a whole book. Bit of a rip off

Where did the bikes go? They had 2 off road bikes, the rode them to get parts, and then they disappeared without mention. The stupid guy steals the Blazer and they chase him on foot? I've been back through the chapters and the bikes are there one minute then gone. And the book ends before the story really starts. Bad value.
