About this listen

First a shooting, then a grisly discovery on the common....

Police partners, D.I. Calladine and D.S. Ruth Bayliss race against time to track down a killer before the whole area erupts in violence. Their boss thinks it's all down to drug lord Ray Fallon, but Calladine's instincts say something far nastier is happening on the Hobfield housing estate. Can this duo track down the murderer before anyone else dies and before the press publicise the gruesome crimes?

Detectives Calladine and Bayliss are led on a trail which gets dangerously close to home. In a thrilling finale they race against time to rescue someone very close to Calladine's heart. If you like Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott, Mel Sherratt, Ruth Rendell, or Mark Billingham you will be gripped by this exciting new crime fiction writer.

Dead Wrong is the first in a new series of detective thrillers featuring D.S. Ruth Bayliss and D.I. Tom Calladine. Tom Calladine is a single, 51-year-old detective inspector who is devoted to his job. His personal life, however, is not so successful.

Having been married and divorced before the age of 21 has set a pattern that he finds difficult to escape. Ruth Bayliss is in her mid-30s, plain-speaking but loyal. She wishes she had more time for the gym and a love life. She uses her demanding workload as an excuse not to try too hard with the men she meets. The series is set in the fictional village of Leesdon on the outskirts of an industrial northern English city. There is little work and a lot of crime.

The bane of Calladine's life is the Hobfield housing estate, breeding ground to all that is wrong with the area that he calls home.

Great book

A very well written engrossing storyline, which kept you hooked on the story throughout. And a big plus being read by Jonathan Keeble. Really worth a listen.

Not for the fainthearted

A good story but I nearly gave up after the first 2 chapters as it was so gruesome. - not a book to listen to over lunch.
Listened to this after I had listened to book 2 which I preferred
As always Jonathan Keeble is an excellent narrator and another reason for the choice

Gripping and fast paced

Loved the atmosphere and the characters. Got a good feel for them as well as the atmosphere of the area in which the story takes place. The narration was good, lively, and descriptive. I soon got sucked into the story and I'm going to listen to the next one soon.

Dead Wrong

Another enjoyable British crime drama. All the familiar tropes were present, grizzled wise male DI, dependable plucky younger female DS and a solid crew of detectives, and of course a cunning murderer.
Set just beyond Greater Manchester in a fictional Lancashire town, Dead Wrong ticked all the boxes. The narration was good, engaging and helped flesh out the characters nicely. I'll pick up the next in the series. 👍

Just love Johnathan Keeble

I will listen to any book narrated by Johnathan Keeble. He has the skill of drawing you into the story.
Dead Wrong was one of these books. First in the Carradine and Bayliss detective stories.
Just a bit of gore but mostly a story based in the middle of a town in the turmoil of drugs.
I was pleased that the drug angle is kept short.
it's about the individual turmoils if a policeman
I recommend this book.

Ok but much better out there

Ok book, wouldn’t be making tv screens soon! Enjoyable at times but a bit predictable at others. Relatively quick book better put there
