About this listen

Koren Bladewell now knows he is a wizard, but he is lost in the wilderness, cut off from help, and unable to use his powers. The enemy is poised at the border with an overwhelming invasion force, and it will take wizards, soldiers and a young, untested princess to hold off defeat long enough for Koren to be trained and grow into his power. But he might not wish to help those who deceived him and destroyed his life.

I have been meaning to listen to the series for a long time and now that I have it was well worth it with a good story and likeable characters. Highly recommended for some light listening/ reading.

Really enjoyable series

By the time I got to this book I was dying to listen to it. I loved how the characters had developed and interlinked into the story overall. Cleverly written (not that I’m an expert) and never a moment of feeling “oh come on, hurry up” A thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Loved it!

I would call these 3 books Lord of the rings ‘Lite’ I loved it! Unsuspecting hero’s, orcs, dwarfs and of course wizards!

Wonderfully entertaining story and characters

The culmination of a classic 'Hero's Journey'. It's good fun and the narration is great. The 'good Vs evil' narrative is a bit simplistic and most villains are a bit one-dimensional, e.g. the orcs are just bad...because they're bad... but hey, it worked for Tolkien!
Anyway, I enjoyed the trilogy very much.

Really enjoyable series and a great ending to it. Fantastic performance by the narrator also. I'm really surprised that Craig Alanson could write such a wonderful fantasy trilogy considering how far away from Ex force these books are, he is so talented and hard working. These books remind me somewhat of LOTR, The name of the wind/wise mans fear and the Gentlemen Bastard books, so I would strongly recommend to anybody who has enjoyed any of those brilliant fantasy books.

Really enjoyed this, the plot the character development and the ending. Glad to see the characters stay true to themselves and a lack of Deus ex machina is always a welcome. Will miss this series more than I thought.

A good finale to a great series

Yet another great series of books by Craig Alanson, and these didn’t disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.
