Irritating patronising simplistic
I’m sorry to be negative - this is the first time I’ve left a negative review, but oh my! It is 5 minutes until the mediation even begins (if you decide to listen just jump to the 5min mark - you won’t miss anything!). Before that we receive a repetitive patronising lecture about the importance of the theme which makes the same point several times over, states the obvious and then reduces it to a naively simplistic version of human experience and psychology. By the time we got to the mediation I was so irritated it was hard to get back to the state of relaxation I had actually already arrived in. But I persisted, telling myself once she gets into the meditation itself it may be more positive. But it stayed at a naive simplistic narrative of life, in danger of diminishing the very real struggles and valid fears people may be living with. This is a misunderstanding of the ideas she tries to lecture us in the beginning. A shame that this valuable theme wasn’t offered with greater insight and depth, and a mistake not to show greater restraint in the indulgent preamble.
