Il pellegrinaggio in questione è verso il paese di Ober- Ammergau dove ogni 10 anni si svolge la rappresentazione della Passione. A questo evento sono dedicati però solo due capitoli del libro: il resto parla degli inconvenienti del viaggio, di ricordi, chiacchiere, riflessioni, nonsense,e ci si trova a sorridere malinconicamente guardando un passato che sembra lontanissimo, dalla nostra prospettiva di villaggio globale.
