Cavor entwickelt in seinem Haus ein neues Material, auf das die Schwerkraft nicht wirkt; er gibt ihm dem Namen Cavorit. Cavor und Bedford, der Ich-Erzähler des Romans, bauen in Cavors Haus eine große Hohlkugel, in der sie zum Mond fliegen.
