I really enjoyed this book. The twists and turns were told very well and shines a light on another world!

A great listen

This book begins well with two potentially interesting female protagonists, but the plot struggles to gain traction and the middle section is soggy, bogged down with issues in the women's lives that aren't particularly engaging. The resolutions to the cases, when they come, are sprung upon them. Madeline stumbles through the investigation, blinded by trauma and personal animosity, and Ramona is stupidly reckless. I find it so dissatisfying when the investigators of crimes figure nothing out. Far too much about their feelings, nowhere near enough about their minds.

Disappointed

Set in London that is frankly dystopian, in which gangsters and Tory politicians are the arch-villains, leaving me wondering where are the good guys? As a Londoner I enjoyed the geography but the city felt curiously hollowed out like all the people who had created it, had left.
