About this listen
One dragon. One wolf. And they're both alphas. Surely Fate must’ve messed up.
After spending the last 200 years locked up in the family castle with his three younger brothers, Erwan is climbing the walls. Literally. He’s a dragon who isn’t allowed to fly, forbidden to use his magic, all to stay hidden from the rest of the world. How will he ever find his mate like this?
But when he finds an injured omega in the woods around the castle and brings him home, the spell that kept them hidden is broken. Erwan’s father is furious—not that that’s anything new. The man has basically been angry all Erwan’s life, though why, he doesn’t know.
When wolf pack alpha Rhene comes a-knocking to demand the omega back, Erwan is shocked by what Fate whispers in his ear. Then again, the same is true for Rhene. Neither one of them imagined their mate quite like this.
Two alphas? A dragon and a wolf? How on earth could that possibly work?
But they have bigger problems. It turns out Erwan’s father is hiding more than a surly attitude. Much more. Like an old connection with the wolves and a betrayal that runs so deep, it could tear Erwan and Rhene apart.
Dragon’s Mate is the first book in the Irresistible Dragons series. This is a spin-off from the Irresistible Omegas series, but you don’t need to have listened to that to enjoy these two as they find their way into love. The love story ends with an HEA, but the suspense plot will continue in the next book.
©2022 Nora Phoenix (P)2022 Nora PhoenixI felt this book was more setting up for the rest of the series but it gives us a new world to explore, whilst getting to know old and new characters. Rhene is known from the IO series and has been given his own pack to govern. When it comes to rescuing a pack member and coming across a castle never seen before, well, what comes next is from the myths and legends. Erwan is a dragon that has been limited by his father, the king, and his uncle but upon meeting Rhene things start to change and you can feel his confidence grow as another shows belief in and care for him. Living two hundred years in secret must have been hard and he also sounds quite lonely, even though he's had his mother and brothers around as well. A huge secret from their past is revealed that may impact their future, both individually and together, and the two wolf packs have to decide on their future path.
Rhene and Erwan together are equally adorable and hot. Both alphas which is a shock to Erwan but something Rhene has seen before. It's good how much the two talk, both about the situation they find themselves in and their relationship. It's a huge step for both men but when it comes to fated mates, it's undeniable, even with it being between two different shifter species.
This is such a great start to the new series, weaving the old and new together seamlessly and I can't wait to see how things develop as Erwan's father and uncle sound slightly mad so that can only lead to chaos.
John Solo's narration is perfect for this, bringing the character personalities and relationships to life whilst balancing that with the gravity of the history that comes to light.

I'm also guilty of being a Nora Phoenix virgin and even though names are dropped I didn't feel lost at all. It only gave me more books to look for. Did someone say foursome. Off to Amazon.
John outdid himself. I have only ever heard him do contemporary and he always gives his all with emotion and character distinction but this massive and eclectic cast was a whole other level. The many voices and accents and switching back and forth for all the characters. Well done sir.
Exceptional

and what's not to like about dragons? I can't wait for the next book now because even though they to end up happy and together at the end, the story definitely isn't.
