©2007 Zondervan (P)2007 ZondervanI like the change of tempo which enhances the story. Its easy to follow the only draw back is that the books being read are not numbered.
Great theme and back ground music

I've listened to a lot of audio studies. I really like this one. There is no running commentary, only an introduction to each book. No opinions of the tutors, no meandering or waffle. Just pure scripture. Narrated in a range of pleasant voices to differentiate the different speakers. A soft variety of music accompanies each chapter, I find it not intrusive at all bit very pleasant once again.
I will listen again to this wonderful version and I strongly recommend it for a basic bible, only downside is there are no apocryphal books but thats fine I can source them elsewhere.
Excellent audio bible

But I will say some things I didn't like about it, because if you are going to invest 77 hours in listening through the Bible you need to consider first off whether to commit to listening to this version or a different version.
This one has a major flaw and some minor flaws. The major flaw is the incessant background music. This is the manin distractor and really the manin reason for not giving high marks to this production.
Some of the reading talents were not quite up to the same standard as others. I don't expect Shakespearian actors, and for sure I did have the sense that these were all believers and I would prefer to have the bible read by people who mean it than the very best actors if they didn't. But sometimes I got the impression that they didn't really understand the meanaing of some constructions in the King James English, in particular stressing "that" in constructions where the "that" is unstressed changes the meaning and makes it ungrammatical. Someone who gets Elizabethan English should have been coaching the voice talents.
There is also a discrepancy in between the parts of the Bible where there are several voices (such as what I consider to be an excellent part of Genesis where Leah and Rachel each have their own voice and these in turn are separate to Jacob's voice and the Narrator's voice, and then there are other parts such as Acts where there is no separation of the voices and a Narrator reads all parts. I think if you are going to do this, and there's nothing wrong with it since the title is a Dramatized version, then there ought to be a degree of consistency about it.
For the above reasons I am going to suggest to those who want to undertake the very rewarding dsicipline of listening to the Bible on audiobook to look first also at the Max McClean reading called "the Listeners Bible". I am not sure I would always place the emphasis exactly as this reader does but he seems to do so with consideration and understanding and even the pacing itself means that you are likely to get more from it. The absence of background music means that your long-term memory is free to hide away portions of scripture more. For sure listening to this version you'll remember all the music for the rest of your life, but for that very reason, probably fewer of the actual verses.
I am trying to strike a balance between being grateful for the blessings this version undoubtably gives, and at the same time pointing out there's a better one out there. I hope I don't offend any brethren with my feelings on the matter. God bless all who hear this and the other audiobook.
It is a good audio KJV but probably not the best.
