About this listen
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Economics: The User's Guide, A Pelican Book, by Ha-Joon Chang, read by Jonathan Keeble.
What is economics?
How does the global economy work?
What do different economic theories tell us about the world?
In Economics: The User's Guide, best-selling author Ha-Joon Chang explains how the global economy works and why anyone can understand the dismal science. Unlike many economists who claim there is only one way of 'doing economics', he introduces listeners to a wide range of economic theories, from classical to Keynesian, revealing how they all have their strengths, weaknesses and blind spots. By ignoring the received wisdom and exposing the myriad forces that shape our financial fate, Chang provides the tools that every responsible citizen needs to understand - and address - our current economic woes.

My only criticism is the sound has a lot of hiss on the narrator's S's. Turning the treble to minimum makes it usable.
High quality introduction to economics

I really like that the author is South Korean so has more of a worldwide perspective than some other author's books from e.g. the US or the UK.
It's interesting which role the financial world like banks have played. How it's much easier to make profit through banks rather than manufacturing. And how the investment into Research and Development has decreased considerably to satisfy stockholders through dividend payments.

- Gives a very basic introduction into Econmics
- Categorised into easily understood chapters
- Well read
Cons:
- More opinionated/bias than it should be.
- Uninteresting and badly presented in many sections.
- Attempts to casualise the subjects more than it should. Economics is not easy and never has or will be.
Just about acceptable
