All systems operating within recommended parameter

Two people, one male and one female, alone in a giant warehouse comp!ex with only an AI who cannot, or will not, tell them what has happened. Because they are the only two survivors of the end of the world. But they can't re.ember it. They can't even remember their own names.

But, bit by tiny bit, they begin to piece together some outline of an history. An injected drug, which effectively kills them, for eight minutes and thirty two seconds allows them a glimpse through the eyes of one of six characters from the past. Trouble is, the person, place or time is unpredictable, and, like a dream, that knowledge also disperses when they revive even though they try hard to write down what little they have learned.

But through the confusion and repetition and desperation, the reader is given a picture of the two known only as M. and L., of their present surroundings and how they are where they are. This is a very intriguing read, cleverly presented, and performed excellently by Tom Howey whose narration only increases the dystopian feel of the story, and the tensions which build as the book progresses.

A quickish read, and one which I personally found exciting and fresh. My deep thanks to the rights holder of Eight Minutes and Forth Two Seconds, who, at my request via Audiobook Boom, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. Not having previously read anything by Peter Salomon, I had no idea what to expect but it wasn't this: and it far exceeded anything I might have anticipated. This is an author I will look out for in the future. Great cover, too, reminiscent of classic S.F.works. And, for anyone who enjoys dystopian tales, S.F., or original ways of telling a story, this book is highly recommended
