Lena Stiessel bor i Järvsö men föddes i Stockholm 1931. Hon började som bibliotekarie och författardrömmen blev till verklighet när hon fick ett uppdrag av ett förlag hon arbetat på. Det var en faktabok som skulle bli inkörsporten till en mängd böcker för barn och unga, fakta som fiktion.
