About this listen

End of Watch is a compelling and chilling suspense novel which sees retired detective Bill Hodges back on the trail of his nemesis, Brady Hartsfield, the criminal the press called The Mercedes Killer.

Foiled in his attempt to commit a second mass murder, Hartsfield is confined to a hospital brain-injury unit in a seemingly unresponsive state. But all is not what it seems: Brady is able to influence both his physician and the hospital librarian to commit crimes in the outside world.

Now the technological genius has created a hypnotic electronic fishing game which compels users to commit suicide, and he is determined to target the three people who put him in hospital: Hodges and his sidekicks, Holly and Jerome.

Final installment much better than the second

Compared to the second book this is so much better and has a good ending.

Superb writing, wonderfully read

A brilliant end to the Hodges trilogy. Will Patton breathes extra life into King's typically well developed characters. As always King renders the paranormal not only conceivable but believable too. Gripping and moving story. It's a shame to leave these people and I hope there may be a Holly spin off story.

A super tale

Loved the concept of Brady still being able to wreak havoc from his hospital bed. Classic SK

Good, but questionable

Will Patton doesn't fail the material, but the story is either lazy or far-fetched, or both. If you've read the first 2, might as well read this one, as it's an easy read. I knew beforehand from the reviews that it goes off the rails a bit, so I kind of left all logic out of my head when I started this.

Hey SK, 🐠please extend the trilogy 🐟

Once again SK and Will Patton have hit the writer and narrator top marks! 🐟
Bill, Holly and Jerome have been brought back to their full and colourful lives (by both SK & WP) for their final adventure against their nemesis, Brady Hartsfield . 🌾🐡🌾
End Of Watch is an all out suspense cat and mouse thriller, with the unmistakable SK touch of superb character depth, darkness, human horrors, and a splash (or three) of gore splattered in. 🌾🐠
Not being able to leave it as a true detective novel SK has added his essence and penchant for the supernatural twist. I went along with it and took it as the norm (being a constant reader) but I'm not sure how lovers of more traditional detective novels will find it. It also has very dark and potentially upsetting themes of violence, sex, murder and suicide.
More suitable for the over 18's and strong of heart and mind. SK's author's note at the end, in my opinion, should also be mentioned at the beginning. You'll understand why once you've read it.
Don't be misled when I say I cried at the end of the book. I cry at the end of most SK books because it's the end, not necessarily because of the ending!
Will Patton read with conviction and steady speed, bringing each character to individual life. 🐟🌾
Thank you SK and WP.
Now, if you would kindly continue the trilogy into a multiology I would be most grateful. Ooo, pink fish...🕸

Brilliant finale to a great trilogy.

I do enjoy Stephen King but this trilogy is the best I have read for a very long time. A gripping story, rich characters and perfectly paced book.

Great performance but!!

I have really enjoyed this trilogy Mr Mercedes especially. I loved all of Will Patons performances However this book is the weakest of the three and is some places a little silly. Still worth a read to finish the trilogy but there are a few elements that I just couldn't buy.
