About this listen

**DAILY MAIL BOOK OF THE WEEK**

Soon to be an AppleTV+ series, this is the definitive account of how Enzo Ferrari became the master of motor racing, and one of the most complex, important and imposing figures in the 20th century.

The book draws upon years of original research, conducted in Italy and abroad, and unveils hidden aspects of Ferrari's career - from his early days as a racer, to how he founded the Ferrari company, and even his dealings with the Italian Fascist government and Communist leaders.

Learn how Ferrari pushed his drivers to the brink of disaster, revolutionised the automobile industry and overcame family and company infighting on his rise to greatness.©2024 Luca Del Monte (P)2024 Orion Publishing Group Limited

the detail of the story

disliked the narrator trying to do an Italian accent when voicing Enzo or other Italians, un-necessary and they would have been speaking Italian anyway!

An astounding book, that i couldn't stop listening to

An astounding book, that i couldn't stop listening to, a truly heartfelt and deeply detailed story of one of lifes great icons. before this book i appreciated and adored the brand, the cars and the motorsport history pedigree i have always been a fan of them.
Now i i appreciate, admire and adore the man behind the brand and the name, a true giant of human history who like him or not changed the world of motoring and motorsport, not to mention what he did for his home town. Forza Ferrari grand old man thank you.

i cannot recommend this book more than i do, a must for anyone who has even a remote interest in cars, motorsport or history

Amazing and insightful

Loved it
I never understood the importance of Ferrari continuing to use the V6 engine until I listened this.
Also that Enzo was a very caring individual who cared about his family especially his son Dino who he named after his brother and father who both died young as did his son.
Truly incredible

Slow story about the man who lived for speed

Very strong on (too much?) detail. Lists of names and dates, etc. But lacking insight into the passion that drove Ferrari. He is easy to admire, much harder to like. And many of his values, especially with regard to women, were antique even when he was alive. He only did one thing well, but he did that better than anyone before or since, so his place in history is assured.

The one huge mistake with this production is the decision to ask the reader to put on a phoney "Eye-talian" accent when delivering quotes and verbatims. This is truly awful. It robs the character of any dignity or seriousness, both of which he is fully entitled to, and makes him sound like something out of Fawlty Towers. A dreaful mistake. never to be repeated.
