In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of 30, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left.

When 17-year-old Sage wakes up in a hospital with no memories, her only clue are the words "Run Now" written on her hand. Trusting her instincts, Sage barely escapes but only to collide with an outside world that would kill to get their hands on her.

With the help of unlikely allies, including a boy with hidden bat wings, Sage makes the dangerous trek to Eden, the last place for people like her and the only place she'll be safe from those at the Institute who would use her blood until she died. But with deadly Primes hot on their trail, Sage must make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people she's grown to love.

Excellent narration and a fantastic story. Very gripping and full of adventure. I couldn't stop listening and did all three books very quickly. I have recommended this book to my friends and family already. Loved it.

So, I'm currently walking a very long way on my own, so only have audiobooks and my thoughts to keep me company, before I left, I downloaded as many free books as I could fit on my phone, while some have been total busts, this one has impressed me greatly, the narration by Stephanie actually makes the story come to life, makes the book her own.

The only real negative is some of the characters (well one) is INCREDIBLY annoying but then, even the book reminds you, you remember that they're still a child and, lets be honest, all children are annoying, very relatable


10/10 very much looking forward to the sequels

thoroughly enjoyed this story!! Its a tense hunger games trial style throughout without any love triangle drama meant I struggled to stop listening as I needed to know what happened next. the characters are all instantly likable and a believable bond shared by them all

Each personality and story line for the characters untwines so well. It is retold so clearly really showing how the author wished each character and feeling to be portrayed. Loved every chapter. It all flows so well.

If your a fan of authors such as Bella Forest &/ Victoria Aveyard I highly recommend this book. The Setting and story is top notch about a girl who wakes up without her memories surrounded by people superior to her in every way and she tries to survive this world and rescue her brother with unlikely allies and a touch of romance . Narrator is expressive and engaging as well :) definitely worth a listen
