About this listen

Matt Scudder is drawn into the case of a serial killer targeting criminals the law cannot touch. The Will of the People, egged on by a vitriolic newspaper columnist, kills a sex offender, a mobster ,and a racist cult leader despite their seemingly impenetrable security. Then Scudder gets a call from a hot-shot attorney, the recipient of the Will's latest letter....

Great story

Narration not as good as Joe Barratt, difficult to distinguish between characters especially female voices, but I did get used to it over time

Poor Dull Not similar to previous Scudder stories

I purchased this novel because I had very much enjoyed previous Matthew Scudder stories. I also enjoyed the narration by the author Lawrence Block although Joe Barrett is excellent. However, this is a very poor imitation. It’s hard to believe it’s written by the same person. The narration and writing is completely different to the other novels. It really lacks atmosphere. The story is completely incoherent and uninteresting. I would avoid this as it will spoil your enjoyment of the other Scudder novels.
