About this listen
There are two sides to every story.
But only one is the truth.
A young woman turns up at a police station. She has been kept prisoner in her own home. Abused and tortured, her every move watched, her every thought controlled. Now she's finally escaped.
That's what she says.
But when the police arrive at the address she's given them, her story doesn't seem to add up. Her husband is missing, but his phone and wallet are still in the house.
She says she's the victim, but what if she's not? What if the stories she's telling aren't her stories at all....

Binge listened!!
I was so into this story that I found myself with a spotless house, because I was so engrossed in this story that I did all kinds of extra chores whilst listening! Well written, well performed. Definitely recommend!

Brilliant narration
Probably the best narrator I’ve heard in years really brought a great story to life. Left me wanting a follow up !

Good story with wonderful narration
Emma Gregory gives every voice a recognisable character. So easy to identify the type from their accents or voice intonations. Great story too which holds the reader gripped to the end without being contrived.

Superb narration
Emma Gregory needs to win whatever the audio book equivalent is of the Oscars. She switches seamlessly between accents and genders, and performs rather than just reading the story, really bringing it alive. The story is set where I live, so I liked being able to picture the area. I enjoyed the story and characterisation, but the final few chapters got much too far fetched, and there were several loose ends that made the ending less than satisfying. Overall, a great story impeccably told, just a slightly disappointing ending.

Brilliant character narration.
An intriguing story. The characters and situation in the refuge were tragic but so amusing. I really liked this book. Real insight into a psychopath.

Great story
story keeps you guessing and questioning what really happened. the way it's written/narrated is a bit annoying at times, just because of the many times 'she said' is used to describe someone said something. the story is really good though and the performance as well.

keeps you guessing!
Enjoyed this book on a number of levels. Portrays domestic violence very vividly and how leaving an abuser does not always solve the problem. Really good story line too.

gripping
Interesting way to present the characters as first person in different character. I really enjoyed the amazing character definitions both my Deborah's story but also Emma's performance.
The story builds and builds and keeps you gripped right to the end. Recommended.

Outstanding
The story looks at domestic violence which can be a little unsettling, but I was drawn in to the story from the start. I thoroughly enjoyed the audible and can easily see this as a TV drama. There is suspense, good humour and the narrator is outstanding. I cant believe one person can play so many characters. I would highly recommend.
