About this listen
THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING MEMOIR, NOW UPDATED WITH NEW MATERIAL
-----------------
As a Bolton teenager with a paper round, Clive Myrie read all the newspapers he delivered from cover to cover and dreamed of becoming a journalist. In this deeply personal memoir, he tells how his family history has influenced his view of the world, introducing us to his Windrush generation parents, a great grandfather who helped build the Panama Canal, and a great uncle who fought in the First World War, later to become a prominent police detective in Jamaica.
He reflects on how being black has affected his perspective on issues he's encountered in thirty years reporting some of the biggest stories of our time (most recently from Ukraine and Israel), showing us how those experiences gave him a better idea of what it means to be an outsider. He tells of his pride in his roots, but his determination not to be defined by his background in dealing with the challenges of race and class to succeed at the highest level.
Moving, engaging, revealing, Everything is Everything is a story of love and hate - but also hope.

Insightful look at a man we think we know
I learnt so much about Clive Myrie and found the majority of it really interesting and informative but found the last couple of chapters less compelling. I think this probably reflects a divergence of our views on the topics covered.

The candid nature of this book is class
I found this book absolutely riveting. What a life what a story. I wished it was longer as I effortlessly listened through a life somewhat akin to my own in terms of overcoming challenges.... Inspirational and impressive.

Fabulous
What an interesting life Clive Myrie has led. What interesting lives and events he has witnessed. More than this, it left me with so many things to think about and is delivered so well.
I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Excellent
This book is great and gives a good insight to Clive’s life and I understand more and appreciate what difficulties people of colour must have gone through and still go through. Thank you for enriching my life as a white man.

Has society really changed regarding racism? The answer is yes, and unfortunately no!
This book gave a fascinating insight into the hardships and challenges that faced immigrants that answered Britain’s call for help after devastation of WW2, only to find themselves facing prejudice and outright racism. Despite this many immigrants and their families went on to build successful lives in Britain, which not only enriched their own lives but also in my opinion all of Britain.
