About this listen

When sweet, healthy, hearty Holly Fox dies suddenly in childbirth, the Surrey village reverberates with shock. She leaves behind a helpless, silent husband and a tiny daughter, Faith.

Everyone assumes Holly's loving and capable mother will look after Faith, but when she unaccountably deserts her newborn grandchild, the baby must be packed off to her father's peculiar family in the North...

Hard to believe that this was written by the same person who wrote Old Filth and Flight of the Maidens both of which I thought were excellent.
I had anticipated a further winner with Faith Fox but found the characters more like caricatures, mostly unbelievable and none of them very likeable either. Hugely disappointed.

Disappointing

Too complicated and tedious storyline. June Barrie is superb however. The characters were difficult to identify with.
