Summary
The top 10 sunday times best seller.
Could the courts really order the death of your innocent baby? Was there an illegal immigrant who couldn't be deported because he had a pet cat? Are unelected judges truly enemies of the people?
Most of us think the law is only relevant to criminals, if we even think of it at all. But the law touches every area of our lives: from intimate family matters to the biggest issues in our society.
Our unfamiliarity is dangerous because it makes us vulnerable to media spin, political lies and the kind of misinformation that frequently comes from other loud-mouthed amateurs and those with vested interests. This 'fake law' allows the powerful and the ignorant to corrupt justice without our knowledge - worse, we risk letting them make us complicit.
Thankfully, the Secret Barrister is back to reveal the stupidity, malice and incompetence behind many of the biggest legal stories of recent years. In Fake Law, the Secret Barrister debunks the lies and builds an hilarious, alarming and eye-opening defence against the abuse of our law, our rights and our democracy.

well researched well written well argued
before I go on to explain my full opinion on this book i would like to address one point the opening remarks contary to what is claimed in another review are not the opinions of the author but are an example of a tabloid news story please listen for more than 2 minutes before making judgement
now for my opinion on the book as a whole it is well researched well written and the inclusion of citations for all examples is very helpful and makes their argument far stronger the points are generally well articulated with a few examples of under explanation but don't detract from the over all read
in conclusion i would highly recommend to anyone interested in the subject matter

The second book as is good as the first - a must hear!
just like The Secret Barrister, the only thing that could make me put this down was getting furious over how the legal system is being abused. I recommend this to everyone I meet

Wonderful and horrifying
Another brilliant book from The Secret Barrister. A must read (or listen in my case) to help us guard against misinformation and encourage us to educate ourselves in the law.

Excoriating
This book is a great primer on why law and order is important, how some bits of it really work and what is currently being done to lie about it and reduce its ability to protect us all in the UK. You will find it very entertaining unless your name happens to be Chris Grayling, in which case I might skip this one.

Another jaw dropping guide through law
Highly recommended book on the gradual and sustained attack on the rule of law from the media and political class.
