Summary
Needed: fake boyfriend for destination wedding
I came out to my parents when I was 15. Sadly, this has never stopped my mother from finding lovely young women for me to date. My sister suggests I bring my own date to her destination wedding. Problem is, I don't know how to find dates. The only man I've spoken to recently is my roommate. My way too hot - straight - roommate. My sister says I should ask him to play my boyfriend. It'll be fun, she says.
Now, I'm sitting next to him on a plane, and I constantly have to adjust myself so he doesn't notice that I'm into him.
In a few hours we'll be at our hotel, sharing the only bed in the room.
I don't know how I'll survive this wedding without exploding. I do know I'll never listen to my sister again.
Fake the Date is a 60,000-word stand-alone m/m romance with little angst and lots of laughter, featuring a tropical island paradise, a not-so-fake relationship, bisexual awakening, a sassy dog, and happy endings. Buy now if you need a vacation!

Sweet and great fun!
Life is tough for Ben, he has an overbearing mother who insists he dates women, when he secretly adores his straight roommate. Evan offers to act as Ben’s boyfriend at his sister’s wedding to relieve the pressure - cue the shenanigans! This was warm, sweet and fun, and I am so pleased it’s the start of a new series, I loved it. Ben and Evan are thoroughly decent guys, who support each other in the face of passive-aggressive parents. John Solo brings his always-fantastic sense of fun and comedic timing to the audiobook. Just what I needed over this Christmas lockdown!

"I want to be the reason you look down...
"at your phone and smile... then walk into a pole". ~Unknown~
That quote makes me giggle just like this story and truthfully Ben almost would have walked into a pole if it wasn't for his pup lol. It really is tooth aching sweet and there really isn't much angst at all. However, there is drama and it's mainly due to the inner monologs of both characters. Ben is a super shy kind of nerd whereas Evan is a workout buff with loads of confidence. I did enjoy the fact that the author never once had Evan come off as rude or mean no matter what situation they ended up in. I overall enjoyed the book but it's not one of my favorites. So even though this one is cute it won't be on my list of re-reads unless I need a serious sugar rush. ☆

Great romance!
I loved Ben and Evan. A gay virgin has a crush on his not so straight as he thought Instagram influencer roommate. Cue a fake boyfriend scenario for Bens sisters wedding and much family drama. Lots of great secondary characters both good and bad and a great plot. A really low angst high romance story told beautifully by Mr Solo. Highly recommended!

Light and fluffy romance
A light and fluffy romance story that can give you a warm feeling. with a bit of humour.
The narrator is good, warm, lively and differentiates between the characters.

Adorably fun story.
This is really a feel good story, but absolutely not shallow, except for some rich parents... It has all the emotions and you feel them in your heart. And having John Solo express all those feelings is just amazing.
Thank you both! ❤️

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Great Fake Boyfriend Story!
Fake the Date is the first book I’ve read by Ana Byrde and I really liked the story a lot. The fake boyfriend trope is one I really enjoy and she did a great job with this one.
John Solo’s excellent performance of the story had me hanging on every word and I listened to it straight through once I started it.
This may be my first book by Ana Byrde but it won’t be my last.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
